Hi Adri,

having problems of same nature again and I think I have done everything you said to do last time....but not working.

the system is not backing up and we keep getting message about wrong destination again.

I have shut the system down several times....I have also disconnected everything from the network......but to no avail.....once again we had a power failure about a week ago and since then I have tried and tried each day but havenot been able to trouble shoot it.

I can connect to the internet on all computers.....I can access info between all the computers so I think they are sharing/networked properly.

I will be out tomorrow but back again in the shop on Thursday...maybe you could make some suggestions and I can try again to sort it.

Many thanks,
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,

Remember that for the Network Backup to work successfully on Mac OS X you need to have the Network Shared Volume mounted on the Desktop of the Server! Basically it needs to look like a an external USB/Firewire disk mounted on the desktop. This needs to be the exact same shared volume that you were using before, with the previous backups inside.

Let me know,
Adri

Hi Adri,

I think I understand what you mean and yes I have done this....The shop computer is the one where we find the listing of the AM backups.....on the server I have mounted the hard drive of the Shop computer and can view it from the server screen. The picture of the Shop computer appears under the Server HD. I just keep getting a message saying about Backup Wrong Destination...and everyday for the past week we have had to force quit the Clients on all the machines and then quit Server and then reopen everything.

not sure what else I can tell you but at this time of year this is the last thing we need....

Help.....
Kathleen

Just to close this topic ....................

After further inspection we discovered that the Client had 2 Network Shared Folders mounted on the desktop, from two different networked machines, with exactly the same name. This conflict was causing the Automatic Backup to fail has it was happening on the wrong volume.

We recommend that when necessary to have multiple volumes they are all named differently.

Case closed,
Adri
