Hi Adriano,
We are finally redoing the stocktake after colossal mess of last month.....argh!!!!!
Quick question just to clarify before we have any problems.....
We both want to enter data at the same time from two different clients. Is this possible? Or do we have to only enter on one client at a time and on a second computer use an excel file which we import later?
What problems might we encounter if we have done it from two separate clients?
I think we have asked this before but couldn't find the answer in our emails and posts.
If it is not possible will it be possible in the future as we will soon have two scanners and it would make our stocktake so much quicker.
Many Thanks,
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,
If you use the old Stocktake logic the limitation still applies. If you use the new logic, as per the new video link I sent you last week, the limitation will not apply. The main reason of the limitation was in the fact that in the old logic the Stocktake code had to be the same from all the clients and this causes items scanned in one client to appear in other clients.
With the current version if you choose the new logic you now have 2 options:
1) You can do a Stocktake by Brand, Category or Supplier
2) You can do a stocktake for the all shop.
If you choose Option 1 then you can use multiple PCs/Macs clients. The important aspect here is to choose different Brands, Categories or Suppliers to scan on each Client. The other important things are
a) that within that Stocktake record the Stocktake code needs to be unique
b) that within that Stocktake record you need to scan all the items in that group (Brand/Cat/Sup). Failing to do so will result in AM adjusting all the item in that group to match exactly what you have scanned in that particular Stocktake record.
If you choose to go with Option 2 you are still restricted to the one Stocktake record. This means that everything needs to be added to the one record within the one client. You have several ways to do this:
a) Either you scan all the stock into the one client with one scanner
b) You can use multiple wireless scanners connected to the same base station attached to the one client
c) You can scan all items in different excel files of code+qty from different clients at the same time and then import them all one after the other into the one Stocktake record
This should very clearly explain how it works.
Now, in order to use the New Stocktake Logic you need to have a version of ArtsMagna that is from version 1217 onwards. I cannot remember what we installed last time but just in case I have added in your online folder the latest version 1228 which you need to install before hand.
Regards,
Adri

Hi adri,
i didn't see the email.....found it in spam.
so we had started and this is what we have done
we scanned the shop on one client....computer SHOP
then the next day we started scanning items from the computer OFFICE because we need to do it out the back away from the shop.....on different client
so branch is all listed as HB-01 in each record.
we have labelled each record as AUG09.
and on computer BACK OFFICE i have been using xcel file....had started to use stocktake module but realized the two computers were interfering.....so then I did an xcel file.
so do we have to start again? our stock take takes several days with two people working so it we have to start again we will be insane!
help!

Kathleen,
It sounds like you are doing all the stock anyway, so just use the old logic for this stocktake. Then from next time you might start using the new logic and do one Brand at a time!
Just remember, make sure, that before running the Stocktake procedure from Stock, the one that gives you the report of the differences and the Adjustment file, you run a RedoStock first. This needs to be done once only and just prior to this step in Stock -> Inventory.
