Background - The Environment - A Consortium of Jewellery retailers who have decided to join forces and open a chain of jewellery stores in busy shopping centers across Southern Italy.

 

Background - The Requirements - The POISE group planned to implement ArtsMagna business software to provide an integrated POS, Accounting, logistical/distribution and Stock management to their newly opened outlets. Beside running the full operation ArtsMagna had to have some specific capabilities. Three in particular were of outmost importance to the Management: being able to allow remote access through internet, controlling the sales potential of each store and the selling time required per product line.

 

 

Solution - The remote access capabilities are in-built within the 4D line of products so that did not require any extra work. Warp Corporation instead had to install a system capable of counting the number of people accessing the premises of each shop (these are no door type shops) and inputting this number through a serial connection between a PC and this device daily. The difference between each day would give the daily count (A). ArtsMagna had to be modified to support inputting of parameters that would allow calculation of those two further requirements. What we did was supplying an interface through a floating window that would display the names of the sales staff available to look after customer. Each employee would then select its name from the floating palette as he or she would start a sale. A time is then logged onto this staff member for that sale and a category of product the customers are interested in viewing if they have one. At the conclusion of the sale, if the customers have chosen something, the employee would input the sale through ArtsMagna letting the system know of the number of customer involved. In a totally transparent way to the user, ArtsMagna would calculate the selling time required, if the chosen items matched with the category chosen at the beginning. It would also allow ArtsMagna to run a progressive average of people participating in a sale (B) and the total number for the day (C). This would then be used for calculating an average of daily potential sales not made per store through this simple formula (A-C)/B.

 

Result - The benefits to POISE are many. ArtsMagna has made possible for all partners to control the Sell Out of each individual store regardless if they are running a Client/Server or Mono installation. Because of how ArtsMagna was modified to suit their needs they are now able to control the time needed by each employee in each Store to sell an item, as well as having a good idea of how many potential sales against actual are carried out in each store. Plus they know with good approximation the selling time required per product line and can use it to monitor staff performances ! Now that is small business management the ArtsMagna way !!!
